Mobile home heating is the area where substituting a standard part is most likely to be both unlawful and dangerous. A manufactured home furnace is a sealed-combustion unit listed for manufactured housing, ducted and vented in a way a residential furnace is not, and a regular furnace cannot be installed in its place.

The duct work is different too. Air travels through a trunk inside the floor, and in a double-wide it crosses between the two halves through a flexible crossover duct slung underneath the home. That duct is out of sight, easy to damage, and one of the most common reasons half a home never gets warm.
