Here is the longer version, because you are entitled to know exactly how a site that gives you buying advice is paid.
How this site makes money
Mobile Home Handbook is free to read. It is funded two ways.
Advertising. We display ads through Google AdSense. We do not choose which ads you see and advertisers have no contact with us.
Affiliate links. When a guide points you to a product, a furnace filter in a size your home actually takes, a roof coating, heat tape, the link may be an affiliate link. If you buy through it, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale.
You never pay more because of an affiliate link. The price is the same as if you had gone to the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
How we label them
Every article that contains affiliate links carries a notice directly beneath the headline, before you read a word of the guide. It says so plainly and links to this page.
We put it at the top rather than the bottom deliberately. A disclosure you find after you have already clicked is not a disclosure.
What affiliate links do not do
This is the part that matters.
They do not decide what we recommend. Where a guide says one product is better for a particular job, that is because of the specification, the size, the material, the code requirement, not the commission rate. Plenty of our recommendations are for products that earn us nothing at all, and several guides recommend not buying anything.
They do not decide what we cover. Article topics come from what manufactured home owners actually search for, not from what pays.
They do not buy influence. No retailer, manufacturer, dealer, lender or insurer pays us for coverage, reviews our guides before publication, or has any editorial input. If that ever changes, this page will say so before anything is published.
They do not follow you around. An affiliate link may set a cookie so the retailer knows you arrived from here. That cookie does not identify you to us. We see only anonymous, aggregate reporting. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
A note about product recommendations
Manufactured homes vary enormously by year, manufacturer and model. A part that fits a 1998 single-wide may not fit a 2015 double-wide, and the difference is often half an inch.
For that reason, our guides tell you what to measure and what specification to look for before they tell you what to buy. If you take one thing from any product recommendation on this site, take the measurement, not the link.
Programs we participate in
We participate in affiliate programs operated by online retailers and manufactured housing parts suppliers. Where a specific program requires its own wording, that wording appears on the pages concerned.
